Charles Boston FRICS
Professional Services & Enfranchisement
Charles is a Fellow of the RICS, having qualified in 1982. He began negotiating the surrender and renewal of leases in 1978 and
was soon involved in statutory claims under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.
He has had a relationship with legal publishers, Sweet & Maxwell since 1986, when he was commissioned to write a guide
entitled “Understanding Residential Leases”. In 2001, by which time Sweet & Maxwell had been taken over by Thomson
Reuters, he was asked to write the valuation chapters of a new volume in their “Handbook” series: “Handbook of Residential
Tenancies”. He became the General Editor in 2018.
Charles’s clients include many very well-known names which are kept strictly confidential. Less confidentially he has also acted
for High Commissioners of countries including Canada and Denmark. As an expert witness he has appeared in a wide range of
landmark cases, which have shaped the valuation principles that are adopted today.
For Vane-Tempest, Charles brings a winning combination through his vast experience and his attention to detail.
